SSM Tricolor-Anchor Light:

You say "#1 in quality & safety", how do you figure?

We set out to design the best Tricolor-Anchor light available, so we went the extra mile to use the best materials and highest performance electronics. As a result, our light will last longer and perform better than the competition.

Our biggest safety advantage is that our light shines at full brightness on a dead battery with only 4 volts left. You will be easily seen with an SSM LED light, when other lights have long since gone out.

We have detailed information available on the Tricolor-Anchor page.

Will the tri-color light up my wind direction indicator?

Most likely. The stern light shines up by over 60 degrees from horizontal so it's quite easy to have the tricolor illuminate the wind indicator.

Will it light up my cockpit?

No. The stern light shines down by roughly 40 degrees from horizontal so it will miss your cockpit but it will still be visible to other vessels at close range.

What does your Five-Year Warranty include?

We warranty the SSM Tricolor-Anchor to be free of defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for a period of five years. If the light fails in that time, we will repair or replace your light, at our option. Please see our 5 year warranty for the complete text.

How much power does it take?

Power draw is approximately 400ma for each light function which is roughly 80% less consumption than standard 25W incandescent bulbs. The actual draw varies a little with LED color. The Tri-color draw measures ~380mA while the anchor light measures ~420mA. Compare this to the 2 Amps drawn by a 12V 25W incandescent lamp.

The power saved can be redirected to other uses like refrigeration or water making.

Can I use it with just 2 wires?

Yes. The SSM Tricolor-Anchor supports two and three wire modes.

I'm running new wire in my mast. What size should I use?

Because of the low power consumption of SSM lights, you could go as small as 20 gauge but we recommend using 16 gauge wire for physical strength.

Will it interfere with my radio?

No. The electronics are inherently RF shielded by the case design and the electrical feed contains a highly effective "PI" filter to ensure the power stays clean.

SOStrobe:

How is your device better than a strobe?

Our SOStrobe blinks your navigation lights and/or anchor light with the Internationally recognized S.O.S. pattern. This is a far more attention getting pattern as strobes may be confused for other search and rescue craft or an unrelated aircraft.

Are strobes illegal?

Strobes are illegal in International waters, although they are permitted as an emergency distress signal under U.S. Inland Rules.

The SOStrobe sidesteps the issue by sending a message rather than just flashing.
